Boots Hearingcare Peterborough

I booked Boots Queensgate Peterborough for a hearing test, and the first appointment went well, with the audiologist explaining the process well, and answering all my many questions. I definitely needed hearing aids, and was told during the tests that I had narrow ear canals. The second test went well at first. However, the audiologist then put larger than necessary domes on the test aids, and pushed the wire into my ear so hard that I showed pain as it seemed to hit my eardrum - which I told the audiologist. She persisted, and as a consequence when she removed the aid, the ear dome fell into my ear by the eardrum. She and her manager then seemed more concerned with getting me out of the consultation and going to the A&E department as a matter of urgency. Quite worrying, yet she and he seemed unconcerned. There resulted several hours of very painful attempts at extracting the dome, resulting in an ear infection which meant another visit the following week for a further attempt - which as you might imagine was extremely worrying. Thankfully that extraction proved much easier, though painful nonetheless. A second audiologist at another practice expressed surprise at the size of the dome used given the narrowness of my ear canal. Throughout this experience, not one whit of concern for my wellbeing; not one word of apology; and not one ounce of compassion. Appalling, given the whole incident was the result of a lack of care and attention. Needless to say, I complained to Boots, and to say they cared any more beyond telling me "your opinion is valuable to us", they seemed uninterested. Hence this review.

I was very impressed with the way I was treated.Veenadhari polukonda,the Audiologist made me feel very relaxed.She was very pleasant courteous and professional. She explained everything thoroughly to me and spoke very slowly,precise and clearly.For someone who is hard of hearing,that is very important.I felt very comfortable with her and can't praise her enough.I am trying my new hearing aids out now and they seem very good.Just getting used to them.

I was happy with the service I received but not the price I paid! With time to do a price comparison I found my hearing aids almost 25% cheaper (over £900 cheaper!!), and with a very good face-to-face local service and a longer guarantee! I did ask the lovely lady at Boots if she could help on the price but apparently Boot's senior management said 'No'! I returned my hearing aids to Boots for a refund and purchased them through this other supplier. My recommendation, check prices first :-)

Prompt service. Ravi prepared the medica background carefully and methododically tested the hearing. Then explained in caeefully worded terms what the results meant in layman's language. Gave ample opportunity to test on a trial out-door-walk. Always ready to answer questions. Altogether a very satisfactory experience which makes me look forward to what is hopefully is collection day for the new hearing aids.

The audiologist was excellent.However the costs of the hearing zids were not truly explained.I have bought aids that I really cannot afford.Too much emphasis put on pushing the more expensive models.

From the very in-depth hearing test through to the various hearing aid options everything was explained fully and easily understood. The audiologists are very professional.

Veena at Boots Peterborough was really caring and understanding and talked us through the whole process as this was something quite new to us and a sensitive subject for my husband to deal with. He is now quite excited to get his new hearing aids as he has now realised how they will enhance his life.

I'd already researched hearing aid providers and Boots came out with very favourable reviews - now I can see why. The two hearing tests I had were very thorough and carried out really professionally. I was given clear and detailed explanations about the condition of my hearing and the possible solutions. The hearing aids recommended have (so far) proved to be the best I have ever worn. There's a follow-up session already booked in and Boots thoughtfully sent me an email with useful tips and links to videos showing how to clean the hearing aids and change the wax filters. I should add that the Boots colleague I met was excellent in the way she conducted the meetings and gave me confidence she was fully committed to ensuring I had all the facts so I could make an informed decision.

I purchased a set of Phonak hearing aids from Boots 18 months ago and have had lots of problems with them.They were sent back to the makers more than once and about three weeks ago I charged them both fully one evening went to a social event and within half a hour they both went dead leaving me unable to hear and ruining my evening.I took them to Boots the next day said I did not want them anymore and asked for a refund.They were very unhelpful blamed the filters which were brand new then blamed moisture which was nonsense and I left them with them.My daughter was with me and was outraged she phoned up the head office in Wales and they sent me a loan of a pair while they looked and my ones.She got a call back a few days later and to my surprise they blamed the filters despite the guy at Boots putting a new set in before sending them off.Anyway this went back and forth with my daughter until a man rang her from Boots head office and was very helpful .Offered me a upgrade on the ones I had and a few accessories .As I did not want to start again I accecpted this and had the new aids fitted yesterday.My experience with Boots Peterborough was very poor though staff were mostly friendly but after sales service very poor could not recomend.Once their head office got involved and my daughter dealt directly with them very good.Just started wearing new aids so we shall see how we get on
