Many people with hearing loss find it hard to hear in background noise, like having a conversation in a busy restaurant. The latest hearing aids can significantly improve your ability to hear and understand speech in background noise.

To help you hear better in other challenging situations, hearing aids also feature a variety of programs. When you switch your hearing aid to a set program, its settings update to what you need to help you hear best in that particular situation, some hearing aids even do this automatically.

How do hearing aids filter out background noise?

In most hearing aids there are directional microphones that listen and understands different situations, particularly situations with high levels of background noise.

They focus on speech coming from in front of you while reducing noise from other directions, which improves the speech clarity, better sound quality and higher suppression of noise1 .

The difference between speech and background noise

The processors in modern hearing aids are very powerful which means they can even work out the difference between speech and common background noises like fans and car engines giving you better speech clarity.

With all this technology hearing aids can still be very discrete like our invisible hearing aids.
