Protect Little Ears: Protect Your Children’s Hearing

Join Our Campaign to Protect Little Ears and Win a Trip to LEGOLAND!

Would you like to know more about ways to protect your child’s hearing? Worried about the increasing use of personal devices like tablets and game consoles during the summer holidays? We’re excited to introduce our new campaign, ‘Protect Little Ears,’ aimed at supporting and empowering parents to have important conversations with their children about safe listening practices.

Why is the Campaign Timely?

As summer approaches and children have more free time to engage with personal devices, we recognise the need to make sure they are using their personal listening devices in a safe way. Let’s work together to ensure our little ones can enjoy their favourite activities while preserving their hearing for years to come.

Enter the Poster Competition!

We’re thrilled to announce a fun and creative poster competition for children aged 5 to 12 years old. We’re inviting them to unleash their imaginations and show us why they love their ears. Whether it’s enjoying music, chatting with friends, or going to the cinema, we want to see their creativity shine! The lucky winner will receive an amazing trip to LEGOLAND and have their artwork proudly displayed in their local Boots Hearingcare store and our top 10 stores across the county.

Facts and figures

Research by Boots Hearingcare reveals that children spend an average of 21 hours a week using personal devices outside of school, including TVS, tablets, and game consoles. Additionally, one in six people experience unnecessary hearing loss at some point in their lives and according to a study published in the British Medical Journal, more than 1bn young people could be at risk of hearing loss due to loud music. Together, let’s take action to safeguard the hearing of our little ones.

Expert Advice on Protecting Hearing

Here are some expert-recommended tips from Boots Hearingcares audiologist Feraz Ashraf, to protect your child’s hearing:

1. Limit their exposure to loud sounds as much as possible.
2. Use a free sound tracker app to keep sound levels below 80db.
3. Encourage hearing protection in noisy environments such as concerts and festivals.
4. Get ear infections treated quickly and effectively.
