The Hear the World Initiative

In fall 2006 the global initiative Hear the World was launched to educate the public on:

• the importance of hearing,

• the prevention of hearing loss,

• the social and emotional implications of hearing loss, and

• the benefits of available solutions for those with hearing impairment.

The Hear the World initiative is committed to encouraging people to value and protect their hearing.

Who is behind the initiative?

As the leading manufacturer of innovative hearing systems, Phonak has long recognized the need for better awareness about the topic of hearing. Which is why Phonak created the global Hear the World Initiative: a unique campaign  which in many different ways is committed to people and projects that are dedicated to the issue of hearing.

What are the objectives of the Hear the World initiative?

Hear the World is committed to making people aware of how important it is to avoid hearing loss and how to take prompt steps to correct it.

The vision of Hear the World is a world where…

…the sense of hearing is cherished and protected,

…the topic of hearing is of greater importance,

…people are aware of listening,

…wearing a hearing system is no longer a taboo and

…having a hearing loss is no longer a handicap.

Sting on his role as an ambassador: "Our hearing is not only integral to how we communicate but also how we experience the world around us. It's a fact that we gain more information from hearing than seeing. I hope by supporting this campaign people are reminded to appreciate every sound and fully protect their sense of hearing."
